Multiple outlets report that the U.S. special envoy to Ukraine resigned on Friday amid an ongoing scandal involving a conversation between President Donald Trump and the Ukrainian president.
Ambassador Kurt Volker, who has been the U.S. special envoy to Ukraine since 2017, reportedly met with Secretary of State Mike Pompeo to announce he'd be stepping down.
Volker's name recently came up in a whistleblower complaint that alleged President Trump had pressured Ukraine's president to investigate Joe Biden and his son's Ukrainian business ties. The complaint says Volker met with Ukrainian leaders in order to help them "'navigate' the demands" President Trump made of Kiev.
The chairmen of the House Foreign Affairs, oversight and Intelligence committees are scheduled to hear testimony from Volker on Thursday.
