President Donald Trump has granted clemency to Alice Johnson, who is currently serving a life sentence for a nonviolent drug offense.

White House officials told CNN on Wednesday that Trump commuted 63-year-old Johnson's sentence. She has already served more than two decades of that sentence.

The decision came a week after Kim Kardashian West went to the White House to discuss Johnson's case with Trump and other officials.

Kardashian West celebrated the news on Twitter, writing, "BEST NEWS EVER!!!!"

CNN says Johnson is expected to be released from prison soon.
