South Korea's president says Donald Trump had a hand in making high-level talks happen between North and South Korea.

President Moon Jae-in said during a press conference Wednesday that Trump "greatly contributed to these talks taking place."

And while Moon was on a call with Trump that same day, the White House said Moon thanked him for "his influential leadership in making the talks possible."

The two Koreas met for the first time in about two years on Tuesday. During the talks, the North accepted the South's offer to send athletes, officials and even a cheering squad to the Winter Olympics in February.
