It looks like Japan will be the next country to strike a new trade deal with the U.S.

At the United Nations on Wednesday, President Donald Trump and Japanese Prime Minister Shinzo Abe pledged to start new trade negotiations.

The agreement will address goods and services and aims to be "mutually beneficial." One focus for the U.S. is the vehicle market and ensuring any changes increase production in the U.S. and create more jobs for Americans.

The announcement doesn't put a timeline on the bilateral negotiations. It also doesn't address the steel and aluminum tariffs the Trump administration has imposed on Japan.
