In less than two weeks' time, four Texas Republicans have announced their retirement from Congress.

The latest, Rep. Kenny Marchant said in a statement Monday he's looking forward to "returning to Texas to start a new chapter," after his current term ends.

Twelve Republican representatives have announced their retirement since this new congressional class was sworn in in January. In addition to Marchant, three of those — Reps. Will Hurd, Pete Olson and Mike Conaway — are from Texas.

Democrats were already hoping to flip Marchant's seat, which he won by only three points in the last election. He had previously won in 2016 by 17 points.
