Devo Band Member Bob Casale Dies Of Heart Failure

One of the founding members of the American rock band Devo died Monday. Bob Casale was 61 years old.

"Casale was also known as Bob 2. The band was formed by four men from Akron attending Kent State in the '60s. Casale died Monday at age 61 of heart failure." (Via WKYC)

"The group's cofounder, his brother Gerald, said he was a solid performer, talented audio engineer. It shocked his family. He died suddenly last night of heart failure. The group was just in talks to tour again." (Via WCHS)

Devo was formed back in 1972 and was, perhaps, best known for hit single "Whip It," which reached No. 14 on Billboard charts in 1980. Billboard reports the band developed a cult following and made the plastic lampshade hats a thing.

Rolling Stone reports the band broke up in 1991 but got back together five years later. The band released an album in 2010 called "Something for Everybody."

Another band member, Alan Myers, died last year from a brain tumor. Casale leaves behind a wife, son and daughter.
