"We feel like this is our home. Even though we work here, it feels like home," one of the employees of Sheroes Hangout said.

But this cafe is helping confront a patriarchal practice in Indian society. The attacks can make it hard for women to find a job, but the cafe offers them employment. 

India's acid attacks are reportedly increasing, and it's extremely cheap to get acid. 

"It's just 20 rupees (30 cents) to destroy somebody's face with acid," a Hindustan Times reporter said.
