Katherine BiekA 3-day flight attendant strike has prompted Lufthansa's low-cost carrier Eurowings to cancel more than 170 flights.
Those flights were scheduled across Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday. They were primarily domestic flights from German airports in cities like Munich, Dusseldorf and Stuttgart.
A German cabin crew union has been locked in a bitter dispute with Lufthansa's aviation businesses over part-time work regulations for months now. On Friday, the UFO union called for members working at Germanwings to go on strike for 72 hours. Germanwings operates flights for Eurowings.
Eurowings said in a statement, "This strike is unfounded and incomprehensible to us. We are doing everything to offer our passengers a normal flight schedule between Christmas and New Year."
As of Monday morning, the strike has not affected any Lufthansa flights. A previous strike by the UFO union back in November caused the airline to cancel 1,500 flights.
