Cliff JudyA Beverly Hills police sergeant says ever since he reported a fellow officer for ogling Whitney Houston's dead body in a hotel bathtub, he's been harassed and denied promotions. He filed suit Monday.
"The plaintiff says then Detective Sgt. Terry Nutall lifted the sheet covering Houston's naked body and then made lewd comments on how good she still looked." (Via NBC)
TMZ reports the officer filing the report is Sgt. Brian Weir who says just hours after the famed singer's death, the other sergeant lifted a sheet and said, "Damn, she's still looking good, huh?"
Houston's body was found in the bathtub of her Beverly Hilton hotel room on Grammy weekend in February 2012. A coroner eventually ruled the 48-year-old singer's cause of death as a drowning, though heart disease and cocaine in her system were also factors. (Via KNBC)
Sgt. Weir's lawsuit says since he tried to report what he saw, Beverly Hills PD took him off "coveted" positions with the department's SWAT and K-9 teams, denied him promotions and removed him as a supervisor.
NBC reports a lieutenant with the police department said it wasn't aware of "any inapprorpiate behavior or any inappropriate comments" when a pre-lawsuit claim was filed last year.
Weir's lawsuit seeks unspecified damages and a return to his positions with SWAT and K-9 teams. Los Angeles-area media report Sgt. Nutall has been promoted to lieutenant since Houston's death two years ago. (Via KCBS)
