Best Buy Mistakenly Leaks Motorola Smart Watch Price, Specs

The tech world is buzzing about a highly anticipated smart watch after Best Buy listed it weeks before its expected release.

That was supposed to be at a launch event in Chicago on September 4, according to CNet, but Best Buy had other ideas. 

The retailer listed the watch — and the price — on its site, and tech outlets were quick to notice, with many pointing out that its price point, $250, makes it a little pricier than other popular smart watches from Samsung and LG.

The listing has since been removed, and Mashable reports a Best Buy spokesperson says it was made public by mistake. 

Regardless, the info is out there, and fans of the watch say it's well worth the price. 

THE VERGE: "Motorola's beautiful Moto 360 smart watch is the most exciting tech product to be announced in years. ... It has the opportunity to be the most transformational product in the most transformational product category since the smart phone."

That might sound like over-the-top praise, but the Moto 360 is a powerful little machine, running Android Wear, a specialized version of the Android OS — and it's voice-enabled. (Video via TechCrunch)

Plus, there's no denying that it's pretty to look at, and analysts who have gotten to test it say it feels right, too. (Video via Motorola)

YOUTUBE / MARQUES BROWNLEE: "It's super comfortable. ... And I've got to say, it's comfortable because of the fact that it's a circle. So when you have a square watch, you're actually taking up a lot more room on your wrist."

Still, the round screen isn't good news for everyone, according to a writer for Information Week who argues the screen is "likely to vex developers as they try to make sure content and UI elements created for rectangular display screens will work in a circular window."

According to CNET, Motorola representatives declined to comment on the listing.
