Lexie HammesfahrMarvel and Jimmy Kimmel did us a solid last night by dropping "that trailer [we] were looking for." That trailer, in case you missed it, is for "Captain America: Civil War," and after watching it a few too many times, we have some thoughts.
If you're here for a comic-book-nerd-level analysis, walk away. This review is for the rest of us, Marvel's movie audience.
"Buck, do you remember me?" Captain America asks.
"Your mom ...," Bucky replies.
Oh no. He isn't doing a "your mom" joke right now.
"Your mom's name is Sarah," Bucky says.
OK. Phew! So at this point, we know Bucky's life is in danger because Cap is basically like, "People are coming to kill you."
Oh, hey. Falcon and Black Widow. And ... Iron Man.
"Sometimes I want to punch you in your perfect teeth," Tony Stark says.
You have a point there, Tony. Chris Evans does have some pretty perfect teeth.
And what's an action movie without someone jumping through a glass window?
Except this window must be made of some magic glass that barely breaks when someone jumps through it because it barely shatters when Cap comes crashing through.
Wait, who is this black-suit Iron Man wannabe?
Oh hey, Scarlet Witch and Hawkeye. Remind me: Is this a Captain America movie or a new Avengers film?
We're also meeting Black Panther for the first time; he's played by Chadwick Boseman.
"What do we do?" Falcon asks.
"We fight," Captain America says.
Final question is based on this little exchange between Tony Stark and Cap.
"Sorry, Tony. You know I wouldn't do this if I had any other choice, but he's my friend," Cap says.
"So was I," Tony Stark replies.
I'm sorry. Are we in kindergarten picking teams at recess, or is this a Marvel movie? When did these things start getting sentimental?
Guess we'll figure out pretty soon if Tony and Cap become friends again. "Captain America: Civil War" hits theaters May 6, 2016.
